Chocolate Fountain Man

Frequently Asked Questions

How does a chocolate fountain work?

A chocolate fountain is a stainless steel piece of catering equipment that melts chocolate in a heated basin. A motor driven auger carries the chocolate up the cylinder to the top of the fountain where a warm curtain of chocolate cascades down and over the fountain tiers, giving the illusion of a chocolate waterfall.

What kind of chocolate is used in the fountain?

Luxury Belgian Couverture chocolate is used. We can offer you a choice of milk, white or dark.

What is Couverture Chocolate?

It is a special kind of chocolate that has more cocoa butter than 'normal' chocolate, anywhere from 33% to 38% for a really good brand. This type of chocolate is used as a coating for things like truffles ("couverture" is French for "covering").

How many people will a chocolate fountain serve?

10Kg of Belgian chocolate will provide enough dips for about 100-200 guests. More chocolate can be added for larger events.

Who provides the dipping foods?

We do. These are included in our price.

Can I use the chocolate fountain outdoors?

The chocolate fountain is for indoor use only. The slightest breeze causes disruption to the flow of chocolate. In fact, it is preferable to be clear of open windows & doors too.

Is the chocolate fountain difficult to set up, take down and clean?

Not for you! We take care of it all.

Is there a time limit it can be used for?

No. Our standard hire period is 3 hours, though the chocolate fountain can run continuously for longer periods by adding more melted Belgian chocolate. If you would like an extended hire period, call to discuss your requirements.

What do I need to provide?

The chocolate fountain requires a sturdy level table (capable of supporting 70kg) with table linen, close to a power socket. We will supply the skewers, plates and napkins.

How far in advance do I book?

As soon as possible! Many people book well in advance so book early to avoid disappointment.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash or cheques, payment in full is required 1 month before the event. A non-refundable deposit of £50.00 is required with booking.

What's special about chocolate fountains?
Ever seen or tasted one? They provide a real touch of class at any event or venue.

At what type of events would you find a chocolate fountain?
At any type: weddings, parties, corporate events, fashion shows, exhibitions, product launches, open days and more.

What is the most popular type of chocolate used in fountains?
Milk chocolate, dark chocolate and white - in that order.

How long does a chocolate fountain last?
It depends on the amount of guests but typically 2 to 3 hours.

Must I supply my own dips, skewers and napkins?
Not usually, but it is entirely up to you. It makes for a more professional and less stressful event if we do everything. After all, it's what we do best.

Will I be expected to prepare the fountain myself?
Our chocolate fountains are supplied together with a member of our staff (at no additional cost) to prepare the fountain and to oversee and assist anyone using the fountain.

How do I book?
Call or email The Chocolate Fountain Man, with the dates and times of your event and we will confirm the booking.
